You wake up, check your watch, and see only 38 minutes of deep sleep. A moment ago, you simply felt a little tired. Now the number makes it seem as though something went wrong overnight.
If you are wondering how much deep sleep do you need, the most useful answer is not a single perfect number. Many healthy adults spend roughly 15% to 25% of their total sleep in deep sleep, often amounting to about one to two hours during a full night. However, this is a broad reference range, not a nightly requirement or a score your body has to pass.
